Last autumn, a major landslide affected the Senhora da Alegria Bio-Reserve. Following a period of heavy rainfall, a section of the hillside was swept down into one of the tributary valleys of the Ribeiro dos Polomos, affecting a sector of our Bio-Reserve.
As a result of this event, the safety of part of the historic pilgrimage path to the Chapel of Senhora da Alegria was compromised, leading us to close access to the trail at that point.
We now intend to study the most viable alternative to restore accessibility, as this is not only the main access to our Bio-Reserve, but also a route deeply cherished by local communities.
Milvoz is studying the safest approach, one that is integrated into the landscape and best optimises resources, so that the beautiful hillside path of Senhora da Alegria can once again be walked. Spring is coming and this biodiversity refuge will come to life again. We will do everything to ensure you can once again enjoy this natural paradise safely as soon as possible!
