We Must Protect the Oak Woodlands!

Ler em Português

Portugal's native oak woodlands are true bastions of biodiversity, ecological identity and climate resilience. Yet these valuable habitats are disappearing, victims of the absence of legislation that effectively protects them from land-use pressure, monoculture expansion and the spread of invasive species.

It is now in all our hands to change this course. A petition being submitted to the Portuguese Parliament calls for the urgent creation of a legal framework to safeguard native oaks and the natural ecosystems they support.

Milvoz stands behind this cause and invites all its followers to sign the petition. Among the key points are:

  • Legal recognition of the ecological and heritage value of Portuguese oak trees;

  • The definition of technical criteria for their protection and restoration;

  • The creation of incentives for conservation on private and public land;

  • The valorisation of native forests as natural heritage.
