From 1 to 4 May, Milvoz travelled to Serra da Estrela to meet our friends from Veredas da Estrela, who organised the initiative ‘De Monte a Monte’. Several days of workshops, knowledge-sharing and community action awaited us, and it was an honour to be present alongside the Brigadas Deseucaliptizadoras from Galicia. This Galician group, with hundreds of members, organises collective activities to remove eucalyptus and other invasive species such as acacias from common land. Their expertise on the subject, combined with that of specialist Elizabete Marchante, allowed best practices to be applied directly in the field, where two mimosa nuclei were treated at Soito do Futuro, a Veredas conservation area.
