For more than two years the Special Area of Conservation of the Serra da Lousã has been subject to large-scale clear-cutting of forest, already involving several hundred hectares. Beyond the associated bad practices, causing deep ecological and landscape damage within a Natura 2000 area, the very legitimacy of the loggers carrying out the cuts is in question.
Even so, the ICNF classifies the operations as "normal forestry activity". Milvoz calls on organisations and citizens concerned with the preservation of nature to join in reporting and following up this situation with the competent authorities.
