The Bio-Reserve Senhora da Alegria just keeps growing! On 8 June we registered a new adjacent plot of 2,000 square metres that now joins the area preserved by Milvoz.
This is the second expansion of the Bio-Reserve, following the acquisition of a eucalyptus stand at the top of the hillside at the start of last year, which we have since begun converting back to native woodland. The new plot sits in the valley through which the Ribeiro dos Polomos runs and is dominated by black poplars (Populus nigra), hazels (Corylus avellana), pedunculate oaks (Quercus robur), elders (Sambucus nigra) and laurels (Laurus nobilis), although there is still a need to restore certain degraded areas, invaded mainly by reeds and brambles.
The Bio-Reserve Senhora da Alegria now covers a total of 2 hectares, but it won't stop there!
