Milvoz had been competing since 17 July in the Planeta Zero programme by EDP, which ended this Saturday. During these 2 months, the project "Ecological Restoration at Senhora da Alegria" was open for votes from EDP customers, alongside two other projects. The result is very positive. With a total of 2,745 votes allocated to Milvoz, we won this competition!
The €10,000 provided by EDP will now be distributed proportionally among the 3 projects. The 2,745 participants who chose Milvoz represented a share of 43.6% of the votes. The association will receive approximately €4,360 to carry out the ecological restoration project that has been in its plans since the acquisition of the target area at the end of 2020. This area is dominated by large eucalyptus trees that we intend to remove with the help of a specialist arboriculture team. Causing the least possible damage to the surrounding native forest and the woodland flourishing in the understorey, this action will allow this community of species to breathe and enrich the hillside with biodiversity.
But our work will not stop there. Very soon, Milvoz will launch a fundraising campaign to expand the Bio-Reserve Senhora da Alegria and create more conservation opportunities for the site. Stay tuned!
