More than 40 participants recently took part in two butterfly-watching sessions organised by Milvoz at the Morena Bio-Reserve and the Bispo Bio-Reserve. The activities provided opportunities for direct contact with nature and enabled participants to discover the biological richness of these areas by observing some of the most iconic species of the local fauna.
The visits were led by Milvoz associate Luís Cardoso, who guided the participants along the trails and shared his knowledge on the identification, ecology and conservation of butterflies. During the sessions, participants were able to observe a diverse range of species, as well as other groups of wildlife associated with the natural habitats found in the reserves.
These initiatives highlight the important role played by Milvoz Bio-Reserves as biodiversity refuges, contributing to the protection of habitats and species in an area subject to multiple pressures. In addition to their ecological value, these areas serve as genuine open-air laboratories, where it is possible to promote environmental education and bring members of the public closer to the natural heritage that surrounds them.
The high level of participation demonstrates the community’s growing interest in nature observation activities and biodiversity conservation. Through initiatives such as this, Milvoz continues to encourage knowledge, appreciation and protection of local wildlife and ecosystems, strengthening the bond between people and nature.
