Milvoz recently organised a training session for teachers, bringing together 12 teachers for a session dedicated to environmental education, nature conservation and the educational potential of the Milvoz Bio-Reserves. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with Ana Esteves, a teacher on a statutory exchange programme, and provided a forum for sharing knowledge, experiences and best practice relating to environmental awareness in an educational context.
Throughout the training session, the various aspects of the Milvoz project were presented, highlighting the work carried out by the association in the areas of biodiversity conservation, citizen participation and environmental education. Participants also had the opportunity to explore the many facets of the Bio-Reserves as ideal spaces for outdoor learning, nature observation and the development of educational activities aimed at different audiences.
The session highlighted the importance of bringing the educational community closer to the local natural heritage, by promoting approaches that stimulate pupils’ curiosity, observation and critical thinking. The use of natural spaces as a teaching resource is a valuable tool for strengthening environmental literacy and fostering a closer and more responsible relationship with nature.
Milvoz would like to thank all the participating teachers for their enthusiasm, interest and commitment throughout the training course. Special thanks also go to the Cernache Parish Council for providing the venue, to the Nova Ágora Training Centre for the opportunity to include this session in its training programme, and to Escola do Brinquedo Tradicional Popular for the fantastic closing event that rounded off the day’s programme.
