To celebrate the entry into force of the Nature Restoration Law, the Milvoz team travelled to the Serra da Pescaria, in Nazaré — the Bio-Reserve furthest from the association's core area — on 18 August.
Amid the sea breeze and the morning fog, we carried out litter removal and control of the invasive pampas grass (Cortaderia selloana), removing the flower heads of several specimens responsible for its spread.
We also highlight the observation of the effects of the biological control used to fight the equally invasive golden wattle (Acacia longifolia), carried out by the Centre for Functional Ecology of Coimbra. The galls produced by the bite of an insect weaken the plants and make them less vigorous in invading ecosystems.
